Acaciavej Shadowy Prince
(Arundel House Bey Rashan/Capleach Shadowy Lustre)
Bay
95% Crabbet
Born:- 26/10/2003
Prince's pedigree is a mix of Australian Top Ten National Champions, an International Champion, endurance sires and big movers.
He was the first foal from our beautiful Capleach Shadowy Lustre and was not to have been a colt or to have so much white! Our stud mentor, Max Denney, encouraged us to consider keeping Prince entire from the time that Prince was 4 days old. Sadly, Max passed away two months prior to Prince's fourth birthday and has not been able to share our joy in Prince with siring his first foals and experiences of endurance riding.
Prince's temperament can only be explained as being divine. Prince can be led through a paddock of mares and foals without fussing. He floats and rides with other horses calmly and has tethered at the back of the float with a 3 year old colt at a show. He can be taken from a paddock that he is sharing with a mare, have a set of shoes put on and happily go out for a training ride. He can be serving a mare during the week, competing at an endurance ride at the weekend and attending a show the following weekend. All with no fuss or bother. Prince has such a happy and contented temperament that he does not run fences and is just a joy to have living with us.
As his rider, Tracy loves his attitude to work and that he looks good doing it. A dressage instructor commented when Prince was a 4 year old, that Prince would take his rider to wherever he was asked, as he enjoyed working so much. On the endurance track, Prince always has a look for any horses ahead of him and if there are, he likes to work up to them, pass them and keep going. He then remains alert as to when there may be more ahead of him, to do the same work again, which makes for an absolutely delightful attitude and work ethic to ride with. His first couple of years competing in endurance have suggested that Prince will continue on from his dam and grand-dam with low heartrates and good completion ratios.
In 2013, Prince was Tasmania's Endurance Lightweight Kilometres(855km) and Points horse with 100% completions. These results also placed him in Australia's Top 10 in both areas as well as being 2nd LW combination with Tracy for 100% completions in 2013.
In 2014, Prince was retired from endurance after sustaining a suspensory ligament injury in a fall with Tracy while out training. After 18 months of being confined to paddock rest he is once again enjoying his ridden life, but this time in Arabian costume. We are enjoying this time under saddle, immensely, and learning new things together, again.
In 2019 we have started to experiment with dressage, starting at the lowest possible level, so that Tracy can gain confidence with remembering tests. We have had good results and are looking toward competing in more.
In 2021 Prince was awarded an Arabian Ambassador Lifetime Achievement Award by the Arabian Horse Society of Australia in recognition of his versatility and performances in various disciplines(endurance, halter showing, saddle showing, dressage, extreme cowboy and reining) over a number of years.
From here who knows what we shall try next, but as always, I know that Prince will put his best hoof forward.
