Our story
Acaciavej Arabians was formed in 2003. The name, pronounced Acacia-vi, is derived from our love of Australian natives,
with blackwoods - featuring in our home and on the property, and a Danish word, vej, directly translated, means way.
We are on an undulating 6ha property, 9km from Latrobe, on Tasmania's fertile North West Coast.
The property is situated at the foot of a small range stretching south towards Sheffield. This range is covered in natural bush and pine plantations with many tracks over various gradients, crossing back and forth, making it an ideal area for starting horses under saddle and to train horses for endurance.
Until 2001 neither of us had owned a purebred, registered arabian. Adam is from a non-agricultural family and although
Tracy had owned ponies since she was 8 years old, with her second pony being a wonderful part-bred arabian mare,
the opportunity to purchase our first pure bred did not happen until 2001. Our beautiful Capleach Shadowy Lustre
(Robali Dargeeling/Capleach Shadowy Lace), granddaughter of Chip Chase Desert Wind(Cherokee Mecca/Chip Chase Desert Joul) and Shadowy Night(Mildom/Nightshade), came to us when Lustre was a 2 year old. Until this time, we had bred a couple of part-breds for pleasure/trail riding. The first one being Tracy's first mount to compete in endurance with.
Lustre was purchased for Tracy to continue endurance on. Until the time that she was of the age to do endurance
she was put in foal, shown in hand and under saddle. Lustre was taken to Arundel House Bey Rashan
(Arundel House Rashan/Belbowrie New Year's Peal) and produced Acaciavej Shadowy Prince in 2003.
With this foal, our stud began it's journey.
Prince has been shown in hand since he was a yearling, and under saddle for the first time in 2008.
Along the way he has collected many championship ribbons, as his dam did.
Prince started his endurance career in 2009, qualifying with no vet outs.
Lustre completed her novice endurance qualification in May, 2006 and was turned out for a couple of months
before being prepared for her first yellow logbook 80km. But tragedy struck. Lustre damaged her leg badly
in a paddock accident and was to be been confined to the broodmare paddock and was producing more beautiful foals for Acaciavej. Lustre had certainly paved the way for our little stud.
Our aim is to breed beautiful, functional, riding arabians, based on high % crabbet lines, with lovely temperaments
for people to enjoy doing things with, be it showing, endurance or pleasure. We hope you enjoy our stud journey
through our website and please feel free to contact us to visit or to ask for further information.
